I was talking with a friend of mine the other night and it just so happens that we both were watching TV. The news came on and the first story was about the latest killings that had took place in the Hunters Point area.

She was like, “This is why I don’t like watching the news.” I explained to her that I have to watch the news to stay aware of the current events in the community, and I suggested to her not to cut the TV off but educate herself so she could educate the youth.

She told me she didn’t understand what the reason for the killing was and she just don’t know why the kids don’t realize who they are and where they come from – their rich ancestry. Well, I explained to her in my opinion this is the problem we need to attack: start re-educating our children at a young age about who they are, because this system, from the school to the justice, has proven time and again they do not have our children’s best interests in mind.

In my opinion the school system doesn’t teach our youth the true history of America or the world. They never say in school that Blacks were the original people, never praise our accomplishments and contributions to this world, and never speak of our rebel souljas such as Uncle Nat Turner.

We must get our children out of these public schools somehow, some way. We need to establish our own private schools for low income families. I think we can start by having schools at our local churches or either home school them. This is the answer to the killings: re-education of our future. It’s time to step your game up. Grow up in 200heaven.
