When you hear the name Black C or RBL Posse, the first thing that comes to your head is probably, “Don’t give me no bammer weed,” which was the hit single off RBL Posse’s 1992 debut album, “A Lesson to Be Learned.” The album, which included the late Mr. Cee, turned this Bay View Hunters Point soldier into the legend that he is today. After the death of yet another one of his close friends, Hitman (Solo Creep), Black C released his first solo album titled “The Last Man Standing” in 2004. The album was a successful accomplishment and it opened the door for Black C to introduce himself as a solo artist.

“The City of Gods” is the newest solo album from the legendary Black C. If there is one word I could use to describe this album, it would be street. With hits that range from making ya’ feel hyphy, “Like Ya Birthday,” to reggae mixed with a little street, “Rally Round,” to the Frisco street anthem, “City of Gods,” to hits that make you wonder, like “Cause of Fame.” Anyone can relate to the songs on the album and this album releases a side of Black C that the world has never seen before.

The cover of the album is so gangsta. The children on the album cover look like they are living a hard knock life – the life of a child growing up in the hood – and you can find children like this in any hood in Amerikkka. According to Black C, there are 20 or more children on the album cover and posters, and they are all family.

Coming from Bay View Hunters Point, Black C has built an empire for himself and his family with his independent record company, Rightway Productions. Inside his studio, you will find his “Wall of Fame,” where every accomplishment of Rightway is displayed. Black C has shown that he can overcome any obstacle and still be a successful independent businessman. He is truly a rose from concrete that has sprouted and taken control of his career in this struggle we call the independent music industry.

Black C is currently working on the future of Rightway Productions and there are many projects in the making, so this is not the last you’ll hear from Black C or Rightway. Some of the artists Black C is working with are the Hard Heads – “Grimey Season” (Young Shad and AR). AR is actually Black’s cousin. This talented young protégé opens up for the hit “Cause of Fame” and is responsible for writing and performing the chorus on that song.

Moe Da Hustla, “Grown Manish,” is another legend in this independent rap game. Moe has been on the scene with Black C and the Rightway family since the beginning. Rome aka Slapadelic and Tha Hermanata are the two young talented producers, who are responsible for many of the hot beats that are cooked up in the Rightway studio.

The “City of Gods” album is out now, so go grab you a copy at ya nearest record shop and support this independent movement. If you would like to hear some of the track off the “City of Gods” album or just can’t get enough of Black C and the Rightway family, hit up www.myspace.com/rblposse or www.myspace.com/arofh2. Support the movement and call ya local radio station and request “Cause of Fame” by Black C.
