This story is concerning my son, Steven D. Stewart, who is incarcerated in the Boscobel, Wisconsin, supermax. He has been in prison for 21 years. He now has MS, has to have a catheter to urinate and has prolapse of the rectum. In March 2006 he had surgery. Five days later he became ill in his cell. The guards let him lie on the floor for two hours with a sign in the window saying, “I am sick. I need a doctor. Please help me.” They suited up in riot gear and went in, beat him up, tore out his stitches, and to this day his surgery has not been repaired. He is suffering in Boscobel. I have written the governor of Wisconsin, the Department of Corrections and numerous state senators and representatives, and I can’t seem to get help for my son from anyone. He is being abused and he is ill. Boscobel reminds me of stories I’ve read about Nazi concentration camps. My son needs someone to help him. San Francisco and Milwaukee are not too far apart to help save a human life. If you can help us, please do. Write to Steven’s mother, Estella M. Stewart, 4171 N. 83rd St., Milwaukee WI 53222. |
