International Month PDF Print E-mail
by the Minister of Information JR
Wednesday, 05 December 2007

This month is International Month in the San Francisco Bay View because it is important to watch what is going on around the world and to look at how it affects us locally. Black people in France, within the last few days, took power into their own hands and politically educated the police force that has been terrorizing the Black communities of France since their inception.

We have a lot to learn, because, as we can see, the police murders of Gus Rugley, Cammerin Boyd, Amadou Diallo, Sean Bell, Kathryn Johnston, Michael Walker, Sharron Grant, Aaron Harrison, Gary King, Idriss Stelley and too many more here in the United Snakes have not been addressed in an adequate manner by the city, state or the federal government.

The Black people of France have demanded international attention for the oppression that they have suffered. If we want respect, we have to take power into our own hands and demand attention in a similar fashion.

In Haiti, among other problems with imperialism, rapper Wyclef is knowingly being used to make people think that everything is good now that it has been nearly four years since the people's government headed by Aristide was overthrown by the U.S., France and Canada. We, as the international community, have to keep a vigilant eye on the situation down there because the imperialist powers would love for us to catch amnesia when it comes to the first Africans to militarily free themselves from the physical bondage of European imperialist powers.

In Brazil, the country which contains the biggest population of Africans, second only to Nigeria, the government is enacting its bogus campaign of "racial democracy," which is a lie when you see the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, lined with plush hotels, then you venture off about 15 minutes into the favelas where the mostly Black people are scraping to survive, or the Quilombos in Bahia, where the descendants of runaway enslaved Africans are forced to drink water out of a pond where people, cows, pigs and horses bathe because the "democracy" has not assisted these large communities in digging water wells where the people can have access to the underground streams which can provide a cleaner source of water that exists right under their feet.

These are just some of the happenings in the world that are affecting Black people, and we have to be informed because we cannot afford to look at ourselves as anything but African Internationalists who have a responsibility to come to the aid of our peoples here in the United Snakes as well as internationally. We have to do more to globalize our struggle, in much the same way that the imperialists have been globalizing their enslaving movement - for example, in the European Union. All Power to the People! Free ‘Em All!
