I really enjoyed this review. I have just finished reading the book myself, and it is excellent. Mumia documents how the rhetoric about "freedom, justice, and equality" in the US, has always been a sick, fraudulent joke. I hope folks will be able to make it to the book party event in Oakland on April 24, held in conjunction with events all around the country.

4/24/09 Friday night 6:30 PM, Humanist Hall 411 28th St. in Oakland.; $5-25, no one turned away. More information here:

I loved this book! I bought it the first week it was released and devoured it in a couple of days. The reviewer is right: it is revolutionary and conservative. And that somehow makes the victories of jailhouse lawyers more sweet. Some of the court scenes are hilarious and at the same time make you want to stand up and cheer!

I know the system is bad; I hate to have to hold onto civil rights law as the only thing left in emergencies, but it is what it is.

Long Live Mumia and all the jailhouse lawyers practicing their craft from the dungeons. They are heroes.
