Has no attorney stepped up and taken the case probono? It would seem that a good attorney could get this resolved through just a few phone calls. Maybe if the in state attorneys are afraid of retaliation from representing this case, maybe an out of state attorney that has passed the bar could help. From the merits of the case that I've read so far, it seems this has gotten completely out of hand. I assume their original attorney was probably a public defender, who cared less what happened to them. Or, maybe calling the FBI is in order. I'll try and look into this on my own.
