Thank you. Rwanda is now in Congo, on Obama's Inauguration Day, and all the Congolese students and activists I know, many of whom invested much hope in Obama, are very upset, as I am.

Kambale Musavuli, Student Coordinator of Friends of the Congo, is appealing to Cynthia McKinney to help them again. See http://www.sfbayview.com/2008/congresswoman-cynthia-mckinney-end-the-conflict-in-the-congo-2/ .

Great article. It is indeed disturbing that the same old people in the new US administration seem set to continue the same policies towards the DRC. I had the good fortune to be able to attend the Congo events in Washington D.C. and found them encouraging, but there is so much work to be done. I have been studying about how major conflicts such as that in the DRC end up 'off the radar'. I have recently published a book and started a blog under the title, Stealth Conflicts: How the World's Worst Violence Is Ignored. I hope you have a chance to check it out.
