Training Program in Construction Management
San Francisco
African American Chamber of Commerce
The San Francisco African American Chamber of Commerce has established a Training Program in Construction Management, Construction Inspection and Construction Testing. The six-week Saturday Training Workshops will be for transportation projects such as Caltrans, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, San Francisco Department of Public Works etc. The Program is administered by the Asian Business Institute and targeted to the African American Community and other disadvantaged communities.
Classes will be at the Westbay Community Center, Fillmore & Eddy Streets, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting Saturday, Oct. 4, 2009. Those who complete the program will receive a Caltrans certificate that can be used for City agencies. Applicants must be high school graduates, preferably with construction work, math and drafting backgrounds. Contractors and builders are also welcome. There are seven class positions left in this class, the only private Caltrans class like this in California. Meetings with City agencies have already begun to match every graduate with a position in construction.
If you or anyone you know are interested, please get an application at the San Francisco African American Chamber Office, (415) 468-6400, or at First Source or the City Department of Human Services, (415) 401-4885, from Olga Munoz.
