Media is not for the rich to impose their ideas on the working class and poor, but it is a tool for liberation and free expression which the people must utilize for revolutionary purposes, according to panelists at the recent People's Voice Townhall Meeting.
The meeting, held Friday at Eastside Cultural Center in Oakland and sponsored by POCC: Block Report Radio and the First Voice Apprenticeship Program, was also supposed to have been broadcast live on the apprenticeship program's weekly show Full Circle, but was yanked off the air by the "powers that be" at KPFA.

Twenty-one long months ago, young Brother Asa Sullivan was assassinated by San Francisco police, followed barely two weeks later by the police shooting death of Brother Oliver "Big O" Lefiti in the Mission district. Asa's mom, Kathy Espinosa, and Nicole Guerra, mother of "Little Asa," now 7 years old, still wait for justice.
On Tuesday, June 6, 2006, around 8 p.m., an SFPD officer fatally shot Brother Asa as he crouched in an attic's two-and-a-half-foot crawl space, hiding because he'd recently spent a short time in jail and was afraid of going back. According to press reports, officers were responding to a neighbor's complaint of possible trespassers, yet Asa and his friend were there with the tenants' permission.

In the year 776 B.C., a religious festival was held by the ancient Greeks to honor their chief god, Zeus. Athletic achievements were prized by the Greeks and, inspired by foot races held in Egypt's Alexandria, the Greeks elected to hold the games every four years at the sanctuary of Zeus in southwestern Greece at the base of Mount Olympus.
The games of the ancient Olympiad included foot races, boxing, wresting, javelin, discus throwing, horseback riding and trumpeters. Male athletes competed in the nude. Women were prohibited from participating in or viewing the games.

Civil rights attorneys will monitor City Attorney's implementation of the opt-out process
San Francisco - A new process that allows people who have been placed on a gang injunction enforcement list to petition to have themselves removed by showing that they are no longer active gang members is a positive step, say ACLU of Northern California and Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights attorneys, who signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the San Francisco City Attorney. The agreement follows months of negotiation.
