Michèle Pierre-Antoine, Lovinsky's wife, writes:

As a Haitian citizen and the wife of Lovinsky Pierre-Antoine, I am writing to you to make sure that the country's judicial and police authorities conduct an in depth and impartial investigation into the kidnapping of my husband. I ask you to ensure that prompt and concrete action will be set in motion towards the release of my husband.

Surely you know that Lovinsky Pierre-Antoine has reportedly been missing since Aug. 12, 2007. One day after his disappearance, the car in which he was traveling was recovered, with traces of blood. During the week following this disappearance, his kidnappers manifested themselves via phone communication, demanding a ransom of 300,000 American dollars for his release. Later on, total silence was observed to date around this case of kidnapping, which deteriorated this situation, making it even more alarming.

Thirty days [now two months] have gone by since the disappearance of Lovinsky Pierre-Antoine. His family, his friends and myself, his wife, have felt an immense void in our hearts ever since. And there is an even greater pain: that of his two children, hoping for a unique sunrise to wake up to news about their father, waiting in a context of anxiety for the moment they see their dear loved one again.

I ask that the government which you are the head of and the National Police of Haiti, on which Administrative Council you preside, conduct an in-depth investigation into this case of kidnapping perpetrated against Lovinsky Pierre-Antoine so that he can reunite with his family.

I impatiently await your reaction to this mail on this important problem.

In the hope that this request will retain your attention, and will be received favorably, please receive, Mr. Prime Minister, the expression of my highest regards.

From the children of Dr. Antoine

Our names are Stéphane and Olivier Pierre-Antoine, the children of Lovinsky Pierre-Antoine.

This week will be the sixth one [now the eighth] that we spend without our father, who is being kept hostage, and it has been more than 42 days that we have not received any notice from him being alive. The hours and the days go by without anyone, except his close relatives, seeming to worry about his fate.

We have felt a big void in our hearts since this disappearance. This deplorable situation prevents us from sleeping or eating and forces us to concentrate our thoughts on the slow agony that our father is living. Deprived of freedom, our father incurs the risk of catching diseases, falling victim to physical violence by his abductors and having his spirit devoured by despair.

We ask you, who probably are fathers and mothers, to listen to the words of two teenagers who crave the presence of their father. Listen well to this outcry of pain and anguish that comes directly from our heart.

It is not only our father that we miss; we are also deprived of our dear friend, of our counselor and of our spiritual guide. We ask the authorities of the country and the Haitian people to do all that is in their power to free our dad. We particularly ask his abductors to grant us the return of our daddy who is so dear to us.

Even if we are aware that a release is a complex and long process, it has been more than a month that we did not see our dad and we want to emphasize the unbearable wait that we are confronted with. In the name of human rights and of the inherent duty to save people in lethal danger, we call with all our strength on the Haitian authorities and the international community to help us find the means that will allow the release of our dad.

We do not doubt that in the future, all efforts will be set in motion to make the release of our dear dad an absolute priority. We wish for energetic and effective measures to be deployed to this end. We take this opportunity to cordially thank all those who, in one way or another, brought us their moral support during this sad period of our life.
